Sawhorse Calc is a set of free calculators for working out how much material a home or garden project needs. There is nothing to sign up for.

How the numbers work

Volumes and areas are plain geometry, so they are exact for the sizes you enter. A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, and a square yard is 9 square feet.

Weights and bag sizes are different. The figures we start with are typical ones, and real materials vary with the type, the supplier and how wet they are. That is why you can change them. If your supplier gives you a figure, use theirs.

Before you order

Treat the results as an estimate for planning, and check quantities with your supplier. For anything structural, or where permits or building codes apply, ask a qualified professional.
